PANJIM, 16 August 2026: Don Bosco Salesian community, Panjim, came alive with faith, fellowship and Salesian joy on Sunday, 16 August, as it celebrated Marian Knight 2026, together with Rector’s Day and the birthday of St. John Bosco. More than a hundred participants gathered for an evening that beautifully combined Marian devotion, Scripture, learning and joyful community life.

The programme began with a solemn Marian hymn, setting a prayerful tone for the celebrations. Participants were divided into ten groups, each representing a significant place associated with the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through quizzes, games and challenges centred on Mother Mary and the Word of God, the groups competed enthusiastically while deepening their knowledge and faith. Fr. Tamatur formally inaugurated the programme and proclaimed the Word of God through the Scripture reading. The spiritual atmosphere was further enriched by Marian hymns and moments of prayer. The programme was ably compered by Br. James Marcus and Fr. Bryce, who kept the gathering lively and engaging.

A special appreciation was expressed to the newly formed youth group, ( Don Bosco Youth Panjim.) whose members animated the games and efficiently managed the point system. Full of life, creativity and positive energy, the young people played an important role in creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Their friendship, laughter and enthusiasm reflected the spirit of young people who know how to celebrate their faith while having fun with Mother Mary.

A special highlight was the cake-cutting ceremony marking Don Bosco’s birthday and Rector’s Day. It was an occasion to express gratitude and appreciation to the Rector and to celebrate the enduring legacy of St. John Bosco, whose love for the young continues to inspire generations.

The celebration also included the felicitation of Aspirants who had participated in various events during July and August. Newly initiated members of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) were also presented with tokens of appreciation for their commitment to Marian devotion and service.

As the competition concluded, prizes were presented to the runners-up, followed by the eagerly awaited announcement of the Marian Knight 2026 winners. The victorious group was formally knighted and presented with prizes, earning the honour of carrying the title Marian Knights until the next edition in 2027.

The celebrations concluded with a symbolic procession of the newly crowned Marian Knights, followed by dinner and fellowship.

Marian Knight 2026 was more than a competition; it was a celebration of faith, friendship, learning and devotion to Mary, beautifully reflecting the vibrant Salesian spirit of Don Bosco community , Panjim.
