Don Bosco, Panjim combined two events—Marian Knight and Rector's Day—on 16th August, under the theme "Pilgrims of Hope!" The program was coordinated by the Shrine Director, Fr. Loddy, and organized by the Panjim community, including Fr. Tamatur, Fr. Kinley, Fr. Avin, Fr. Jacinto, Fr. Tony, Fr. Jason, Br. James, and Cl. Darryl.
The Senior Youth Group members and the Aspirants were actively involved in organizing the event. Around 110 people participated in the program.
The event began with a prayer moment led by Cl. Darryl and the Aspirants. The Marian Knight was then solemnly inaugurated by Fr. Rector (Fr. Tamatur). People from all walks of life had gathered to spend a meaningful evening with Mother Mary.
There were fun games and a quiz focused on Mother Mary, through which many participants learned more about her. Children, youth, and the elderly were all present and were divided into 10 teams.
"On the occasion of Don Bosco's birthday, Fr. Rector (Fr. Tamatur), along with the Panjim community, cut the cake and a blessing song was sung."
Before the winning team was announced, food was served to everyone. This was followed by a solemn ceremony in which the winners were knighted and crowned as soldiers of Mary. A beautiful procession took place, with the winners leading in front of the statue of Our Lady, which was carried by Fr. Tamatur. All participants had the opportunity to kiss the statue as a sign of devotion.
Prizes were distributed to all who took part in the event, including the youth who helped organize it. Everyone shared that it was a wonderful experience to spend the evening in honor of Mother Mary.
Fr. Loddy concluded the event by thanking the sponsors and the community of Panjim, noting that this was the first time such an event had been held for the shrine’s people.
"The groundwork and preparations for the event were entirely carried out by the Oratory staff—Esma, Sera, Keegan, Jitrai, Shanta, and Geetha."
